Margaret Smith, a lifetime New Yorker, and longtime resident of Roosevelt Island, was appointed by the Governor to the Board of Directors of Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation (RIOC) in 2010.
Ms. Smith is currently head of Administration for one of the largest brand licensing companies in the world, with offices in the US, England and China. Prior to this, she was a general management consultant for more than 20 years working on multi-million dollar projects to restructure divisions and develop long term marketing strategies for Fortune 500 companies including AT&T, Citibank, Xerox, and Verizon.
Ms. Smith began her career in the banking industry where she served as AVP of Private Label Credit Card Programs, then Vice President of Administration and later Director of Education for a 2,000 person branch banking division.
Ms. Smith has spent the same amount of time, as a resident of Roosevelt Island for more than thirty years, being dedicated to matters of the community. Before joining the RIOC Board, she served as Vice President of the Roosevelt Island Residents Association (RIRA), Board member of the Rivercross Tenants Association, and Chairperson of the RIRA Government Relations Committee.
