Fay Christian was appointed by the Governor to serve as a member of the Board of Directors of the Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation in June 2008. She serves on the Real Estate subcommittee.
Ms. Christian graduated from Hofstra University receiving her B.A. in Psychology, with a minor in Biology. She received her M.S. in Elementary Education, and certificates in Administration and Supervision and Reading from Hunter College. She also holds New York State Licenses in Early Childhood, Elementary Education and Administration and Supervision. She obtained reading certificates from New York University Reading Recovery Program and Wilson Language Training from the Wilson Reading System.
Ms. Christian is presently employed by the New York City Department of Education. She is presently assigned as a Reading Intervention teacher at PS/IS 217 on Roosevelt Island. She also serves as the chapter chair for the United Federation of Teachers for her school.
