Shopper's Red Bus

The Red Bus also provides a Shopper’s Bus service for seniors and disabled persons every Tuesday and Wednesday. The Shopper’s Bus departs at 10:30 a.m. sharp from the front of the Senior Center (546 Main Street). Seniors and/or aide must have identification available before boarding the bus. Children are not allowed to ride the Shopper’s Bus. Adults 18 and over will be allowed on the Shopper’s Bus only if they are assisting a senior or disabled person. COSTCO shoppers must bring shopping bags and/or cart for groceries.

Shopper’s Bus Route:

  • Wristbands will be distributed to all shoppers prior to boarding the shoppers’ bus at 10:15am in front of the Senior Center (546 Main Street).
  • One (1) wristband per person. You must be present to receive a wristband.
  • Wristbands are subject to bus seating availability and are distributed on a first come - first served basis
  • Wristbands are required to board the bus (on Roosevelt Island and in Astoria). No exceptions.
  • The bus capacity is limited to 22 riders (not including the bus operator).
  • Boarding will begin promptly at 10:20am and depart promptly at 10:30am.
  • Seniors and/or aide must have identification available before boarding the bus. All riders must have identification available before boarding the bus. No exceptions.  
  • Children under the age of 18 are not allowed to ride the Shopper’s Bus.  Adults 18 and over will be allowed on the Shopper’s Bus only if they are assisting a senior or disabled person. 
  • Grocery store shoppers must bring shopping bags and/or cart for groceries.
