Tennis Court- Detailed Guidelines for Play

Please Adhere to the Following Guidelines for the Health and Safety of All



  1. Do not play if any of the following apply to you:
    • Are exhibiting any symptoms of the COVID (19)
    • According to the CDC, people with COVID (19) have had a wide range of symptoms reported—ranging from mild symptoms to severe illness. These symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus: fever, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, chills, repeated shaking with chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, new loss of taste or smell.
    •  Have been in contact with someone with COVID (19) in the last 14 days.
    • Are a vulnerable individual and your state and region is in Phase One or Phase Two. A vulnerable individual is an elderly individual and/or an individual with serious underlying health conditions, including high blood pressure, chronic lung disease, diabetes, obesity, asthma and those whose immune system is compromised such as by chemotherapy for cancer and other conditions requiring such therapy. (For states and regions in Phase Three, a vulnerable individual can resume public interactions, including playing tennis, but should practice physical distancing.
  2. Courts are open daily from 7:30 AM to 8:30 PM
  3. Reservations required in advance. Only one reservation, per player, per day. NO two-hour reservations allowed.
  4. Reservations can ONLY be made two days in advance.
  5. NO same day reservations.
  6. Reservations are open to residents and non – residents.
  7. Arrange play only with family members or others who live in your household or with individuals who are considered to be low risk.
  8. Singles play 
  9. Doubles will be allowed. Players MUST maintain social distancing at all times.
  10. When requested by RIOC staff member, each player will be expected to show a form of identification AND their single play confirmation. A printed copy or image on a mobile device of the online reservation confirmation must be brought to the courts.
  11. Charging participants is prohibited.
  12. Game play is limited to 55 minutes (on the hour); please arrive no earlier than 5 minutes before   your reserved time to check in and wait in designated areas.
  13. Social distancing of at least 6 feet must be maintained at all times while on the courts, including in the parking lot. Immediately leave the courts after your visit.
  14. Children will not be allowed to roam the courts at any time.
  15. For the safety of staff, in person reservations will not be accepted at any time.
  16. Players 16 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
  17. When not actively playing, please adhere to all proper personal protective equipment (PPE), social distancing and face mask protocols.
  18. Permits can be submitted from Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM
  19. Weekend and Monday requests must be submitted by Friday at 5 PM
  20. After 3 No-Shows we reserve the right to deny future permits.
  21. Cancellations must be made 24 hrs in advance in order to re-book a reservation.
  22. Tennis Permits do not include or authorize parking for any vehicles.  Metered parking is available on Main St or you may inquire about parking in the Motorgate garage.
  23. Only the 4 permitted players are allowed on the courts. 
  24. Anyone found on the courts once they are closed is subject to be summonsed for Trespassing.
  25. REMINDER: First reservation begins 7:30 AM, last reservation begins at 7:30 PM
  26. Inclement weather: The on-duty attendant will determine whether or not the courts are playable before, during and/or after wet weather conditions as deemed necessary. RIOC reserves the right to close the courts for the day and cancel all existing reservations. In the event that this occurs, players are required to submit new reservations. Cancelled reservations will be voided for future play.
