Roosevelt Island to Open COVID-19 Rapid Testing Site for Residents and Community

 

Free COVID-19 Rapid Testing Site to Open at 9 AM on January 20th at 524 Main Street

 

(Roosevelt Island, NY Jan. 18, 2021) – The Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation (RIOC) announced today that, in an effort to safely and smartly reopen economies in accordance with state health guidelines, they will be offering residents and the community at large free COVID-19 rapid testing starting Wednesday, January 20th at 9 AM.

 

Our mission has and continues to be providing innovative services that enhance the island’s community. With the help of partners like David Kramer of Hudson Related Companies and Swift Emergency Care Testing, we’re doing just that,” said Shelton J. Haynes, Acting President and CEO of RIOC. “To be the first, in this network of COVID-19 rapid testing sites that will reach across the state, brings us immense pride and hope for a safe reopening of our neighborhood and beyond in accordance with the state’s health guidelines.”

 

The testing site, which was formerly a branch of the New York Public Library, will be located at 524 Main Street on Roosevelt Island. It will offer free tests, operate on a pre-registration or walk-in basis, and give results in as little as 15 minutes to approximately 24 hours, depending upon volume.

 

Operating Wednesday through Saturday, 9 AM. to 5 PM, the site will have the capacity to test up to 500 individuals a day. Testing is free and no insurance is required for visitation. For more information, please visit rioc.ny.gov
