In New York, the COVID-19 vaccine is readily available to individuals aged 12 years and older. Additionally, the rate of new cases continues to drop as New Yorkers do their part by getting vaccinated, wearing masks, physically distancing, washing their hands, staying home when feeling ill, and getting tested to know their status.
Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation (RIOC), in consultation with the RIOC Board of Directors, New York State Department of Health, Office of General Services, New York State Department of Budget, New York State Operations, and Swift Emergency Care Testing, has been proud to support a safer reopening by bringing both rapid antigen and PCR COVID-19 testing to the community through a pop-up COVID-19 testing site. Since its opening in January of this year, the COVID-19 testing site has seen a 32.59% decrease in traffic from its weekly average. Based on this data, the site will be reducing service from four (4) to two (2) days a week, operating at half capacity, and relocating to Gallery RIVAA (527 Main Street) -- a space more suitable for services that reflect the diminished demand.
The move will take place the week of May 17th and, in order to accommodate the move, the COVID-19 testing site will be closed from Wednesday, May 19th through Saturday, May 22nd. We anticipate the site's reopening at Gallery RIVAA (527 Main Street) to be Wednesday, May 26th with a new two-day schedule beginning the week of May 31st.
