NYC Ferry Service Alert – All Routes – UN General Assembly – 9/20 to 9/26
Due to the UN General Assembly, increased security restrictions on the East River surrounding the Wall Street heliport may disrupt and/or suspend service temporarily on all routes from September 20 to 26. Waterway restrictions near the United Nations building may also cause delays, cancellations, or service suspensions on the Astoria, and Rockaway-Soundview routes. These times and locations are subject to change without warning and are at the discretion of the U. S. Coast Guard. Visit ferry.nyc or the NYC Ferry app for real-time schedules and service alerts.

NYC Ferry: No Roosevelt Island Ferry Service Today
Roosevelt Island Community: According to NYC Ferry, Due to US Coast Guard harbor security restrictions for the UN General Assembly, there will be no ferry service north of East 34th Street on Tuesday, 9/22. The following landings will be closed: Hunters Point South Long Island City Roosevelt Island Astoria East 90th Street Soundview Ferry Point Park The East River route will bypass Hunters Point South. The Astoria route will operate between Pier 11 and East 34th Street. The Rockaway-Soundview route will operate between Rockaway and East 34th Street. Additional security restrictions may take place with limited notice from US Coast Guard. Ferry service to closed landings may resume if restrictions are lifted. Happening NOW: Fall for Arts Festival & Jazz Concert on Meditation Lawn
Dear Roosevelt Island Community, RIOC and RIVAA are proud to present the Annual Fall for Arts Festival & Jazz Concert happening today from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Meditation Lawn. This year’s festival celebrates the themes “When I Dream” and “Bridges and Connections” with a full day of arts and cultural programming, including live mural painting, jazz performances, family activities, food vendors, and more: Live mural painting featuring original works by local and visiting artists throughout the day MSTDA Family Music Class on Meditation Lawn (11:00 AM) Jazz performances, including a jam session and a performance by the Marianne Solivan Quartet at Roosevelt Island Public Library Plaza Family-friendly arts and activities with Island Kids and the Girl Scouts Food vendors and more throughout the festival All events and activities are free and open to the public. Roosevelt Island Bridge Testing 9/17
The NYC Department of Transportation (DOT) will be conducting test openings of the Roosevelt Island Bridge on: Thursday, 9/17 from 10 AM to 2 PM The rain date is: Friday, 9/18 from 10 AM to 2 PM Please be advised that intermittent bridge closures will occur during this testing period, with each closure lasting approximately 15 minutes. Testing requires a complete closure of the bridge to all vehicular and pedestrian traffic during lifts. We thank you for your patience during this routine testing.

East Side AVAC Line Maintenance Beginning September 14
Dear Roosevelt Island Community: Beginning Monday, September 14, the east side line of the AVAC system will be offline for approximately two weeks to accommodate maintenance work inside the AVAC facility. Management at all affected buildings has been notified and asked to close their chutes beginning September 13th at midday until further notice. The Department of Sanitation (DSNY) will provide daily garbage pickups for affected buildings beginning September 14. Building managers have been instructed to place garbage at the curb after 7:00 PM the day prior for 6:00 AM to 9:00 AM next day pickup. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience while this necessary maintenance work is completed. Should the work conclude ahead of schedule, the east side AVAC system will be restored promptly. —RIOC Maintenance
